1 lakh tests/day with Indian kits by May-end: Union health minister Harsh Vardhan
NEW DELHI: India will be self-reliant in producing rapid antibody tests and RTPCR diagnostic kits by May-end and it would make it possible for the country to meet the target of one lakh tests a day by the end of next month, health minister Harsh Vardhan said on Tuesday.
Exhorting scientists to speedily develop Covid-19 solutions such as vaccines, drugs and medical equipment, Vardhan said, “Out of at least half a dozen candidates supported for vaccines, four are in an advanced stage. Regulatory platform in one place has been constituted for speedy clearances.”
He was addressing scientists of autonomous institutes and PSUs under the department of biotechnology before reviewing their work relating to Covid-19 solutions. Scientists said at least nine of these studies were in early stages and one delivery and adjuvant system for improving immunogenicity of the candidate vaccine was at an advanced stage.
